Written on the back is, "Greg & John - I knew this dog when I was a little girl, it is true he carried the mail up to Canjon Road made the trip to & from post office in San Bernardino daily - you bet no one could touch him when he had mail bag on except his master Mr. Wagner - thought you might like his picture, Nana". Large Antique 19C English Dog Collar The 19C brass dog collar measures 6 1/2" in diameter and is 1 3/4" in height. It is in good condition. Antique Dog Book Greyfriars Bobby True Story of A Faithful Dog A book written by Eleanor Atkinson. The true story of Bobby, whose owner died in 1858, at which time the little dog followed to where his dead master was buried in Greyfriars Churchyard and refused to leave. The townspeople provided a kennel for Bobby at the site, where the dog remained until his death in 1872. The book is a first edition. Printed in 1912. It is in very good condition. The front of the book has a stain close to the bottom. Item #7121 SOLD

Antique Dog Painting William Schinzel. C1890. The painting measures 22" x 35". The old wood frame has a gold finish and is 28" x 42" inches. There is overall crazing. The painting has two spots where the paint has flecked off. One is on the back of the dog. Measures about 1/8" in size. Another is verytiny and barely can be seen. It looks like the gold on the frame has been touched up and when they touched it up there is very small trace amounts on the painting. The signature which is difficult to see, is signed Wm Schinzel. Antique Tortoise Shell Dog Snuff Box Dates early 19C. The box measures 2 1/4" in diameter and is almost 1" in height. There is some wear on the outside. The inside is lined with tortoise shell. Sterling Silver and Enamel Hound Snuff Box The sterling silver box dates 1928. English silver hallmarks are inside the box. The hallmarks show the box is Birmingham, made by G Unite & Sons & Lyde Ltd. The box measures 3" x 2 1/2" and is 1" deep. The box is in good condition. It open and closes nicely. Some very slight denting. The box is inscribed " George Ravenscroft, from J. Meadows, Oakley 1879 - 1929". The hand painted enamel is very detailed and well done. Antique Dog Book "Our Devoted Friend The Dog" This antique rare, out of print, lst edition, hardcover book was published in 1902. The book is written by Sarah Bolton. This book covers dogs devotion to humans and life in the Victorian era. There are 19 chapters and some are listed below: Dogs Save from Drowning, Dogs Save From Fire, Dogs Guard Their Dead, Dogs Love of Home, Dogs Commit Suicide, Gratitude of Dogs, and many more. The book measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/4". There is 444 pages. The book also contains many, many photographs of faithful dogs. The book is in good condition. The pages are hand cut. Some wear on the outside corners. Couple of stains on several pages. Binding is tight, but hinges are beginning crack. Great old book. Item #7084 SOLD

Antique Dog Crystal Essex Irish Setter Pin C1870. Beautiful 14kt gold bar pin. The pin has a reverse painted crystal dome with mother of pearl backing. (A reverse crystal dome is rock crystal that is cut into a convex form and then polished into a cabochon. Then a relief image is carved from the back and hand painted. This gives the image a three dimensional look). The crystal dome measures 1/2" across and 3/4" in height, and the pin is 3" in length. Item #6016 SOLD
Antique Papier Mache Terrier Letter Holder C1880. Antique papier mache letter holder measuring 8 1/2" long, 8 1/4" tall and about 2 1/2" deep. It is in very good condition. The holder has a beautiful scallop and point edge. Heavily embellished in gold accenting and the front panel is inlaid with a lovely ring of tiny iridescent Mother of Pearl shapes which frame the most adorable little white Westie Terrier face - his little red tongue hangs out! Antique Sterling Silver Dog Match Holder A beautiful hallmarked Sterling Silver and enamel match box holder. The box measures 2 3/8" x 1 1/2" x 3/4". It is in very good condition. Looks like it has never been used. The dog is well painted. The box has the English Silver hallmarks, but they are hard to make out. Some of the brass needs cleaned. Some minor wear. The collar is inscribed "Arthur Gillis, Hoegaerdstiaet Thienen". The collar has engraved circus or performing dogs throughout. Minor scratching. One of the dogs has a note that went with photograph. The dog on bottom right was a mascot to the F Company, 22nd U.S. Infantry, Fort Crook Neb. The dog's name is Skates. Painting was acquired in England and the seller stated the painting was late 19C or early 20C. Painting is canvas on board. Back of painting is printed Royal Board, made in Sweden.
